Queerplatonic Relationship

A committed relationship that is more than friendship but does not fit conventional romantic or sexual categories. Queerplatonic relationships (QPRs) are central to aromantic and asexual communities, though anyone can have one.

In a queerplatonic partnership, two people make a life commitment — living together, raising pets, sharing finances, being each other's primary support — without necessarily being romantic or sexual partners. The relationship is "queer" in the sense that it defies straight categories: it's not friend, not romance, but something real and committed that has its own rules.

QPRs are sometimes called "ships" in ace/aro communities. They validate the idea that deep, committed connection doesn't require romance or sex to be meaningful.
