Our Mission

Umbrella.lgbt is the everything queer app. A platform built by and for the LGBTQ+ community that brings queer people together — online and in real life.

We're building the app we wish existed. Not another dating app. Not another algorithmic social feed. A real community platform that serves the full spectrum of queer life.

Why "Umbrella"?

The name is intentional. Current queer platforms are fragmented: gay men on Grindr, lesbians on Her, everyone scattered across Reddit, Discord, and TikTok. There is no single platform that welcomes the entire LGBTQ+ community under one roof.

Umbrella.lgbt is that roof. Gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, asexual, aromantic, questioning, two-spirit — if you're queer, you belong here.

Who We Are

Umbrella.lgbt is queer-owned and queer-built. We're a small team building for our own community. We understand the safety concerns, the privacy needs, and the deep desire for a space that isn't monetizing queer identity for venture capital.

Our Values

Community first, not dating first. Dating can happen organically. It will never be the core mechanic or the default experience.
Safety by design. End-to-end encrypted messaging. Anonymous/closeted mode. Age-gated spaces. No GPS broadcasting. No data sold.
For everyone under the umbrella. We build for the people other platforms ignore: teenagers, questioning people, queer elders, trans and non-binary communities, people in hostile countries.
Move people offline. Our success metric isn't screen time. It's friendships made, events attended, questions answered, lives changed.
Transparency and trust. No dark patterns. No surveillance. No algorithm optimizing for engagement at the expense of wellbeing.

The Timeline

We're building Umbrella.lgbt throughout 2026. This pre-launch site is our foundation — content, resources, and community that will grow into the full platform over the coming months.
