Safe Neighborhoods
- Schöneberg — The historic queer heart of Berlin. Home to the iconic Nollendorfplatz and dozens of gay bars, cafes, and shops along Motzstraße and Fuggerstraße.
- Kreuzberg — Alternative, diverse, and queer-friendly. Great for leftist queer spaces, artist communities, and political organizing.
- Neukölln — Rapidly gentrifying but still home to many queer collectives, underground parties, and community spaces.
- Prenzlauer Berg — More family-oriented, popular with queer parents and quieter queer life.
Queer Bars & Cafes
- Silver Future (Neukölln) — Feminist, queer, inclusive bar. Events, readings, and a welcoming atmosphere.
- Möbel Olfe (Kreuzberg) — Queer bar in a former furniture store at Kottbusser Tor.
- Südblock (Kreuzberg) — Cafe, bar, and community space at Kottbusser Tor. Hosts events, workshops, and performances.
- SchwuZ (Neukölln) — One of Berlin's oldest queer clubs. Parties, concerts, and community events since 1977.
- Tipsy Bear (Prenzlauer Berg) — A queer cocktail bar with drag shows and a cozy vibe.
Community Centers
- Schwulenberatung Berlin — Counseling and support services for gay, bi, and queer men.
- LesMigraS — Anti-violence and anti-discrimination support for lesbian, bi, trans, and intersex migrants and refugees.
- Sonntags-Club — Community center in Prenzlauer Berg offering events, groups, and information for the LGBTQ+ community.
- TransInterQueer (TrIQ) — Berlin-based organization for trans, inter, and queer people.
Healthcare
- Schwulenberatung Checkpoint — HIV/STI testing, PrEP, and sexual health services.
- Vivantes Klinikum — Several queer-competent healthcare providers, including trans healthcare specialists.
- Praxisgemeinschaft Lebensort — LGBTQ+-focused medical practice.
Events
- Christopher Street Day (CSD) — Berlin's Pride parade, held each July. One of the largest in Europe.
- Lesbisch-Schwules Stadtfest — Annual street festival around Nollendorfplatz in Schöneberg.
- Folsom Europe — Annual fetish and leather street fair in September.
- XPOSED Queer Film Festival — International queer cinema festival.
Berlin is one of the most queer-friendly cities in the world. Most spaces are welcoming, but as anywhere, be aware of your surroundings at night.
